First Look Inside a Billet Sequential Trans for my '67 C10! Finnegan's Garage Ep.99

The last few last big pieces of the puzzle to rebuild my slammed 1967 Chevy C10 project truck are now in place. We just installed a billet 6xdgearbox.com sequential six-speed gearbox and Mantic USA twin-disc clutch on the back of the supercharged Chevy LT4 engine. The transmission can be shifted through all six gears super fast and without lifting off the gas pedal or using the clutch. It's an all-aluminum case machined from solid billets and with o-rings everywhere for easy serviceability. The clutch is capable of holding 1,000 lb-ft of torque and can be rebuilt and upgraded for more power later on.
Now that the trans and driveshaft are in and now we can make a realistic list of the remaining fabrication, plumbing and wiring jobs to perform we can drive this badass truck.

Those guys are obviously pissed off with 'standard' motorcycle/sequential gearboxes and the replacement /interchangeable is a fantastic idea particularly dog rings on gears. Honda used a trochoidal oil pump built into shaft bearing to lube transmission in 1970's

Just look for any motorcycle gearbox except the 'direct drive' Harley Davidson big twins. Royal Enfield had 'neutral finder' in 1950's. Fit a 'kill button' to gearshift and tap that as you shift then you don't even need clutch. it's been well known in various motorcycle race types for at least 30 years

So the reason this offers an advantage over the G-Force is that it has a flat-shift module, which doesn't come with the gearbox lol Impressive.

I race on dirt what do you have for that I use a 3 speed Chevy trany and I run 2 gear I dont need 6 speed 10 inch clutch with a 355 cubic inch Chevy engin I get hit I shear bolts can you give advice on it.

I know these are working well in the 2500-3000 HP big power Vipers. It's been a long time, but Vipers finally have a gearbox that will take some power. Back when I was "in the game" for TT Vipers, transmissions were the limitation. We could make so much more power in the V-10 as compared to what could be reliably sent to the rear tires.

Upshifts on a bike do not use the clutch. The rider gently loads the gear-lever and momentarily dips the throttle. The gears momentarily unload allowing the next gear to drop into mesh. Downshifts need a mismatched clutch throttle so the revs blip. Rider does the clutch/throttle blip, a fraction is a second later hits the shifter and gear drop in perfectly.

Dude, sequentials are badass but please DO NOT change Blasphemi. So much of what makes that thing badass is because it's a stick car. It wouldn't be near as cool with an automatic or sequential, even if it was faster.

If I were to get a manual car I'd definitely want a sequential box like this (but for, you know, normal cars) for my lazy butt. I suspect if this got put into a normal car it would never wear out, even if neglected and abused.

Take the slack out of 1st gear by taking by the the slack on the whole drive drain by slowly letting the clutch out till all the slack is gone. That's how we did it in the old days. All we had were stock Muncies, t10s.

I wonder Mike if you would pick up some time going to a shifter or knob with a strain gauge in it and have it retard the timing enough to unload the input shaft for blasphemi. A lot of people do this in dog box transmissions in FWD cars, like Honda’s and SRT4’s.

Can someone explain to me why the cost is so high for this trans? Gears are all straight cut (ie =cheap to manufacture) , is there something in there that I missed that pushes the price so high? I know billet aluminum will be some $ vrs cast aluminum but not like $10,000 more lol
